Bummer! It sounds like a rescue might be better in this case, because it doesn't sound like anyone in the house is excited about taking charge of him. FYI, you can always become the dog's alpha, particularly if you are in charge of feeding him. Make him Sit/Stay before you give him his food, and maybe give him food in installments so he has to obey you multiple times.
