I second Pike's Peak and Estes park in Colorado. I also enjoyed Garden of the Gods there too.

I lived near Austin, Tx for a few years. My favorite place to visit was Colorado Bend State Park. Its in central Texas. Beautiful place. TPWD: Colorado Bend State Park
