I don't know what it is with thoses bully sticks. Mine get really funny with theirs too. Cassie, maltese 9 wks, has no clue what it is or what to do with it other than guard it. Misty, yorkie 2 1/2 yrs, takes hers and hides it under my bed. Then I have Mazie, cocker spaniel 13 yrs takes hers and lays in the living room chewing on hers. Misty then checks to see where Mazie is before she goes and retrieves hers. Then she'll sit on the chair and watch Mazie. Anytime anyone, me included, comes near her, she'll lay down on it and growl. As if I want her bully stick. They are a riot!!
