My dexter had this and almost died and had one plasma transfusion

did she get a fatty treat within 24 hrs of getting this? What is fat content on the diet as dex is now on 8% fat diet. I know your pain i was there and it was a year before he was back on track as he relapsed as vet fed wrong food. DO NOT LET VET GIVE YOU HILL'S I/D

do ultra z/d if you have to do vet food. Once they get it - it is real easy to get it again so you have to be very strict with diet. Dex is on purina ha and has not had an episode in 3 years. He just had blood work on a 12 hr fast and his triglycerides were a little high so that told me he naturally had alot of fat in his blood so any extra put him over the edge. I am very strict with him. Alot of times like with him he has ibd in small intestines and cannot tolerate potato based diets as white potato is inflammatory to intestines and then triggers the pancreas.
hang in there so glad you trusted your gut and i would never go back to vet that just shrugged it off as first thing our vet did was xray for blockage and blood work and immediately knew
I personally would not do the ultrasound as the blood work is very specific and i paid for three ultrasounds that said yep the pancreas is inflamed - uh duh that is what the blood work said

so i felt it a waste. The most accurate is the spec cpli for pancreas and tli is for epi not pancreatitis. They should have an inhouse now that does cpli right there because if you have to send to lab it will take 3-4 days to come back - the amylase and lipase give them a little idea but not always perfect test for pancreas but the cpli is the most accurate test so if you want to keep cost down stick to the blood tests and avoid ultrasound as out here they were $400 each and that racked up a 1200 bill for me and did not get a whole lot out of it
