I have seen show groomers use the slickers on the legs/feet but not the body coat. They use the pin brushes on the body and combs on the face/topknot area. I raise shih-tzus and I use the pin brushes but do use the slickers on legs/fees when there is a matt there because they are tender on their feet and that gets the matts out the quickest way without hurting them.
