Hi Gypsy,

Henry vacuums are notorious for being smelly and it really depends on what you have used it for. The filter ring after the motor can be washed but it needs to be dry before it can be put back in. Try spraying the filter with Febreeze rather than any other air freshener spray if you don't want to wash the filter. Another tip is to wash the hose out. This can be done, but removing the hose and the metal bent pipe and laying the entire plastic hose into a bath or shower cubicle, lining the hose with washing powder and dousing it through with a shower or laying it in the bath. After a couple of hours return to the hose, take out of the bathroom and dry it using a long stick and cotton hankies pushed down the hose to ensure each rib gets dry - alternatively usually after a day or 24 hours the hose will be dry to be used again.
