Sad Big Healthy Yorkies

The original Yorkshire Terriers were 12-20 lbs. and then when Americans saw them, they wanted lap dogs and the pressure was on to breed little dogs. Sadly, some breeders have taken this to an extreme and now there are all of these very unhealthy little dogs with teeth issues, seizure problems, and bone strength issues. Very sad. Try to promote healthy breeding by buying only healthy yorkies who can function in the world as a dog should. Sometimes Americans accuse owners of bigger (actually normal) Yorkies of having a mixed dog, but in reality the big Yorkies are closer to the originals and the "teacup" type is bred specifically for looks and not health. How sad.
