A reputable breeder would not sell to you, I can tell you that right now. If they did, they would want to know your reasons for breeding, would want a lot of info about the bitch you have now, would co own with you, would expect you show the male you purchase and yes a show male is $2500 and up. And you won't own it outright, it would be co owned with the breeder you bought from.
To buy quality you have to find quality and a reputable breeder with quality is not going to sell to someone just wanting to breed and sell puppies.
I have no doubt you will likely find someone who will just sell to you but you get what you pay for and get what you get when you deal with someone who works that way.
Also Champion sired or champion's in a pedigree will NOT guarantee a show pup. If it did, everything I would have produced would be champions but they are not. One perhaps two in a litter may be show qualilty some are not and are sold spay/neuter for pet. I have had litters that had no show quality all were sold for pet spay neuter and with 80% champions AKC and or Canadian Kennel Club in the pedigree.
Go to dog shows, talk to breeders, find someone who will mentor you. |
great post!!
