trial and error I would say...I would put it on her and see how it works...you could probably figure out how long she could go...Where it's an oil I would think it would last a little longer and where it's all natural I can't see it harming them in anyway. I am going to be using it when I go to Maine, we leave tomorrow, I will let you know how it works...I usually take them for a few walks a day...providing the weather is nice.
