Default is there such a thing?

My yorkie at one year is so laid-back. I have never seen a yorkie as quiet as he is. When I brought him home at 10 weeks he was a terror but after having surgery for legg perthes he has gotton so quiet. Is there such a thing as a quiet yorkie? My other yorkie of many years ago was always a rip and into everything. Is it the surgery that changed him? Does anyone else have a young yorkie that is happy to lay on your lap and watch the rest of the gang play? I am so worried that he is in pain and doesn't want to move because of it. He doesn't seem to be in pain when I move his hip. His surgery was 4 months ago and the vet says he's healed. The vet said he can take another x-ray to see if the hip looks ok but assured me there was nothing wrong. I hate to have to put him to sleep again just to satisfy my worries. Anyone out there have a laid-back yorkie at only 1 year of age? He will play and loves to go for a walk but loves more to just be in my lap. Am I worried for nothing? Should I just be happy he is subdued, and assume this is just his personality? Should I risk, yet again, having him sedated for an x-ray?
