I ask because I cannot make up my mind as to which type of coat Murphy has. He's very dark - his body has stayed black but his head is a little lighter. He mats easily in clothes but not much otherwise. His hair is VERY soft, much more so than my others. But his coat doesn't have the shine that the others do, it's more dull looking. I've heard of modified cotton coats but I don't know what they are.
