I live in North Dakota where the weather can get down and stay below zero for days on end.

My little troopers run out and come back in pretty fast when it is like that. I also, like the other gal said, make paths through the yard, my yard looks like a maze in the winter, but they DO need that space to get some exrcise.

They HATE to be bothered with a coat. The long hair chihuahua has a nice coat and he's 14#. Mari (yorkie) 4# will let me put her jacket on if it is below zero. She has a full long coat, and sweaters mat her so I don't use them anymore. Angel, that is under 2# and has to be carried out, always wears a sweater in the winter and a T most of the year. She's so tiny that she needs the extra warmth. She just does her business quickly and I bring her back in. She is paper trained, so if it's too nasty she just stays in. I do like her to get some fresh air at least once a day though, no matter how cold it is.

They all like their blankets and I tuck them in at night. The yorkies cuddle in them in the summer too.

Bless their little furry hearts
