Gracie does the exact same thing, Leslie. My vet says it's kennel cough, and she's been fighting it for 2 months now and has been on three rounds of antibiotics. It's getting better (finally) and she's mostly only doing it in the morning when she wakes up. Once in awhile she does it during the day but it's a quick hack/honk/gag and she's done!

My vet checked her trachea and said that if you push lightly on it and she does it, that's indicative of a collapsing trachea, but she doesn't do it then.

So if it doesn't go away after another month, I'm going to look into testing her for allergies or at least trying some meds for it.
