I don't know anything about the laser, but I did just get Addie spayed a few weeks ago. She got her stitches out on the 10th.

With Addie, I was told to stop giving her water and food at midnight the night before the surgery.
But if you trust your vet, then I would think it's fine. I'm no expert, though.

I was so nervous and scared that something would happen, but everything turned out great. I'm so thankful it's over.
