You should purchase a dog ear cleaning solution from either your vet or the pet store to clean the ears with. You shouldn't use water because that can cause an infection. The water can travel down the ear canal and create a warm moist environment which in turn will create bacteria. An ear cleaning solution will clean the ear and dry out so it doesn't stay in the ear.
