We also built ours out of upholtery foam and they work great. We have a ramp for our very high bed and covered it in a towel, and one set of steps for the couch. Shayna loves them and we do alot less bending over to pick her up. They are easy to make with foam - measure the height and angle (for ramp), use a large knife to cut the foam, Tack 2000/Scotch 44 spray adhesive to attach the foam pieces and Cover in material or pillow cases, or towels. If you can sew find a nice material that matches and construct a cover. Very easy. We had fun and it was a team project.
