Eh, we've had some good days and some bad. I've noticed that if I give him the run of the pen, he does two things. One, he starts to rip up the paper (my DH did not want to put all pee pads down so we have one pee pad and then paper on the rest of the pen. Two, he seems to adopt the entire pen as his den and will wait until we then take him out (to our yard or on our floor) to do his business.
So today I am starting fresh. He'll be in his crate and then let out into the pen for short intervals and I'll wait and watch, ready to give him his treat if he does his business in the pen, and if not he'll go back in the crate for a short time until I let him out again to try.
