Most of the time it definitely prevents marking issues, if done 6 months or younger. Jackson got neutered at 7 months old and while he still will lift his leg on walks to mark on trees, etc, he has never done it indoors. Even outside, it's not too excessive, only if he smells other dogs. Besides that, it can calm them down, and it will prevent roaming/wandering looking for a female dog in heat, it also totally eliminates testicular cancer.
