I don't know what Julie meant but I certainly didn't mean that but I do believe you have to think about the entire life of the dog before you buy since it is a lifetime of care.
I do not think dog ownership should just be for the rich. I think every child should have a dog growing up but their parents should be willing to give up lots in order to do that if need be. We had some hard times in the past and I cut way back on my grocery bills so she could have the best. It is possible.
