It sounds like you've covered all the bases ... it would be hard to add anything without seeing him. Time to let the Vet make the call ... unless he stepped in something wet???

Eliminating jumping can greatly improve this condition, or at least lessen the occurence. Mine will bark for me to come get him off the bed, or to be put up when he wants up. I'm lucky, he's not too demanding...
