None of our dogs are huge eaters anyways and have never had the need to do anything but free feed. It's a wonderful idea on giving puppy food to the mothers as they need the extra fat from the food for the babies. Don't give any calcium though - until after the puppies are born. Cottage cheese and goats milk are great after. We gave two tablespoons morning and night to add to milk production. Congrates on your upcoming litter! Post photos when you can
