So very sorry to hear of the loss of your pup, Ginger.

I would have to have a necropsy performed so if it was something environmental, you can fix it and protect your other pup. And if it was an acute medical trauma, ie: ecoli, antifreeze poisoning, kidney failure, or congenital problem, You will have a better idea of why she passed and can stop feeling guilty, and start healing. And if it was something zoonotic, you can take steps to protect yourself and others (human and animal), in your household from becoming ill.
The sooner a necropsy is done, the better.
