Default Hip replacement surgery for small dogs

An online friend recently had hip-replacement surgery performed on her Westie, and the results so far have been phenomenal. The company that makes the artificial hips featured her story online, so I thought I'd share the link:

BioMedtrix - Micro Hip Helps Westie Find New Passion

The reason I'm posting here is the surgery is new and relatively unknown. Until recently, you couldn't get replacement hips for little dogs. They didn't make them that small.

That's what my friend was told by several vets when she discovered her purebred Westie was going lame by the time she was approaching a year old. She stubbornly refused to believe it and scoured the Internet. She found a vet who pioneered the surgery, and the rest is history. Her now 15-month-old dog is almost back to full strength.

Check out the link. It's such a great story.
