Judging from the yorkies I've known, it is very unusual for such a young dog to sleep all day and night. Most yorkies are energetic and curious. Mine follow me around everywhere, and can't rest while something is going on. They have to be in the thick of everything.
Could be his diet, or maybe it's just his personality. Changing his diet would be a good place to start.
