I recently had a stay in hospital also and Curly did the same thing. The kids said she whined and whimpered, especially at night for me so one of my sons slept in my bed and she slept next to him. Seemed to do ok that way. But, she wouldn't potty on her pads while I was gone, only in the kitchen (I'm a chef so most of my time is usually in there) so I assume she was pissed at me. I thought she was going to have a heart attack when I came home. She went completely nuts! She's back to her normal routine now, only took about a day and a bunch of Nature's Miracle!
