It will still grow in silky but you may see a color change as the new hair grows in. That would be seen eventually anyway if it does but cutting it short sort of makes it seem more obvious.
I keep Ben's long even in the Florida heat. His silky hair stays fairly cool to the touch and I don't let him outside very long when it is hot (and would do the same even if he had short hair).
I say go with what you want, don't let the groomer talk you in to cutting if you aren't really wanting to. Now a thick, cottony coat will probably be cooler for the dog if kept short in the summer. But with the silky, thinner coats, I do not think it matters. |
