Welcome to YT and Congrats on your new baby!

You got some great advice already and I only like to add that an initial visit of the vet's is very important in case the puppy has any sicknesses, infections or genetic defects.

If the breeder gave you some medicine I could imagine kennel cough, the 'common cold' of dogs. It's a viral infection so antibiotics are not going to help. The little boy just has to ride it out... but keep him warm and hydrated. A bit of warm milk with a little honey can soothe his cough but to much of that can upset his little stomach and cause diarrhea. (Maybe 1 tablespoon is enough)

If you really HAVE to leave him alone so soon and for so long make sure that he has plenty water in a bowl that he can't empty in any way, food, piddle pads, his favorite toys and something that smells like you (t-shirt, pillow etc...) If you buy a cage please make sure you get a plenty big one...
