Oh, duh, I didn't read closely enough that your vet did prescribe the xanax. I think I'm in the same boat as you. I'd be scared to use it too. Maybe call another vet and see if you can get an opinion over the phone? For all I know, it's entirely possible that it's the safest thing to do in extreme cases.
