A good quality clipper should not run hot so I would really focus on quality (just aim for the best motor you can afford.) Sometimes the "pet clippers" run cooler, but a better motor will run cooler then any "pet clipper." Back when we had our schnauzer and we had to clip her all the time I can tell you hot speed makes all the difference. If you have a beauty supply store near by (like Sally's) they can be a great help. Easy to see the differences in the clippers and the attachments since you can touch them. Just make sure they don't market a pet clipper to you - speed should be your biggest concern (followed by attachments.)
