I really recommend Oster. My mother became a barber 40 years ago, she has clippers from Oster that are over 15 years old and they got some heavy use! The only reason she retired her osters is because the cord freyed (and she lost the cord to another one) and replacements for 15 yr old clippers well... that doesn't happen!
Wahl is another good brand as well though, so is Andis.
A good quality clipper should not run hot so I would really focus on quality (just aim for the best motor you can afford.) Sometimes the "pet clippers" run cooler, but a better motor will run cooler then any "pet clipper." Back when we had our schnauzer and we had to clip her all the time I can tell you hot speed makes all the difference. If you have a beauty supply store near by (like Sally's) they can be a great help. Easy to see the differences in the clippers and the attachments since you can touch them. Just make sure they don't market a pet clipper to you - speed should be your biggest concern (followed by attachments.)
Do make sure you buy lubricant for the blades! |
