Partis,Biewers & Biewer Terriers This is not to start trouble/fights it is based on facts that I found on each breed as I have seen much criticism over the Parti Yorkie,Biewer a la Pom Pon and Biewer Terrier and many people including myself are wanting to know the difference with the 3 breeds.
I did my own research and these differences I found on each breed as they have their own standard to follow..
The Parti Yorkie is a variance of the Yorkshire Terrier in which it has 2 colors and can be anywhere on the dog from what my research has found. The Parti is registered AKC but it is considered a fault color.
The Biewer a la Pom Pon has 3 colors, does not have a docked tail the Biewer a la Pom Pon standard says it is to stand over their back, and have the 3 colors on the head and originated in Germany. The Biewer basically follows the standard for the Yorkie other than the differences stated above. The Biewer a la Pom Pon is registered in Germany and 2 two registeries in the United States. I found that the Biewer a la Pom Pon standard that is followed in the US is also the one used in Germany.
The Biewer Terrier, which by the clubs own admission is it's own breed and was originated in the United States from the Biewer a la Pom Pon and is only registered within one club. This breed is not recognized in Germany and follows it's own standard which it has 2 colors on the head, a tail set in which it is to be tea cup handle and is a larger dog, up to 8lbs. These dogs are basically a mixed breed according to their MARS testing in which this breed follows. From the web site of their registry the Biewer Terrier seems to carry many genetic problems in which they feel they must test for. The Biewer Terrier's standard is not followed in Germany. Also noted is that the Biewer Terrier is only American born dogs as they do not allow imports nor outside dogs.
To conclude this arguementive controversy it is my humble opinion that all 3 of these breeds are a breed of their own and should be treated as such. |
