If he is fighting with her then it would be best to separate them. You don't want to risk her hurting the pups. You will have a lot of work ahead of you. You just want to make sure the momma is kept calm. Don't put her someplace where she will be jumping up and down and stressing out. When the puppies drop you should be able to feel pups moving down low in the groan area. Of course if she is carrying a lot of puppies then sometimes the puppies are already carried pretty low. If the movement is just light then she probably still has more time to go. Do you know if the previous owner left them unsupervised throughout her heat cycle? Did he know how long she had been in heat when he saw them tied? Without knowing these answers then you could be in for a long puppy watch. What are you feeding the momma now?
