Welcome to the board.....I mayy be wrong in this assessment, but every dog I have ever had was AKC. HOWEVER, due to the fact that I am not a breeder and don't want to do that, I always had them spayed...THEREFORE, other than an ego trip, I never registered mine as I never planned to deal with puppies and breeding. SInce I would never have to deal with a buyer, and once my dog is gone it's gone, I never fooled with that or the expense of it.
Now maybe I am off base here, but that is just my take on it.
