It is natural and normal for the mom to lick or bite down the cords. Many will warn you not to let them do and to cut and tie. I did this on my first litter only to have Zoe take off the tied floss and to bite them down to her liking.

We have to remember, animals have a natural instinct. Let her do what she is naturally supposed to do.
