I think you are right. Our dogs feed off our emotions. When I step on my Yorkie's or Shih Tzu's paws, they yelp and run to me to comfort them. They beg me to hold them, and they give me kisses while I hold them in my arms. I tell them I'm sorry. After a minute has past, they have forgotten all about the accident. I think they can tell that we are not trying to hurt them by how the incident occurred.
