Your post made me laugh.
I too want to know what all the licking is about. Whenever I brush Mimi, she'll lick anything in reach, but she prefers human skin.
When her pups had their tails docked, she licked one of the pup's tail too much & it caused poor blood circulation & I had to put bitter apple on their stumps as advised by our vet. But that didn't stop her.
