Not the same as what you use in the kitchen, it's a bit thicker. However, what is great is they are reuseable. Just wash, rinse and hang to dry. I've had a package of a hundred that I bought 5 years ago.

Yes, it's fine to oil, since you take them down daily. I've never heard of the oil you use.....but, I'm sure it's fine.
