you're arm should neve be straight out. You're up arm should be held against the side of your body. the upper arm held straight out looking like an L.....at that point the just adjust your upper arm toward the back of you. Kinda of like you're pointing at somthing behind you with your upper arm...This will adjust that lead a bit higher, under the chin. Then you firmly hold the dog in place and start out before the dog, the dog will follow a pace behind you. This slows the dog down, it doesn't get out in front of you, allowing it to lead with the head and pull. A bit akward at first if you aren't use to it, but it will become 2nd nature.
