I might be biased, but I think they are perfect dogs too! my husband and I wanted a dog that has a sweet temperment, who doesn't shed too much, who is easy on the ol allergies, and we love our little man! he is like a child... we just got married and we want to have kids, and our boy Ollie has tought us a lot of responsibility.. he is the best companion. I have had other breeds of dogs before, but he really is the perfect dog! Good luck with yours if you get one! You won't regret it!
BTW I did a lot of research like you. there are sites online like petfinder.com and things like that, who let you do surveys and then they recommend a breed for you based on what you said.. and my breed was a yorkie, so I was pretty happy with that, since that is what I wanted!
