Like you, if I pull it up he gags and chokes. i am trying to slow him down. i think I have got him going to fast. The last dog I championed was a fast pace dog and I have got in the habit of walking fast. I have noticed that IF I can slow him down, he does much better. Right now, we are working n clicker training that one of my friends on another list is teaching me to do it. We have a huge AKC show the last of August and unless I can get the head under control, I am not going to be able to enter him. I thought it was how I am putting the lead on or something. I have several leads and they all seem to slip back to the shoulders, giving me no head control at all.
Have you tried a braided satin neck piece. I know a wonderful lead maker that custom makes leads.
