Hi and welcome,
Your concerns are valid so maybe talk to your vet a bit more to see when it would be appropriate.
I don't remember when Duke got his rabies shot but it's around that if not 6 months. He was around the same weight as yours. He did not have any bad reactions, I always make sure that I'm free for atleast the rest of the day to spend with them after shots. Regardless of what shot you get, some dogs might have a reactions while others might not. I think that if you speak to your vet and monitor your pup afterward for changes then you'll be ok.
I'm sure you know this but if you choose to wait to have the shot just don't have your pup near other dogs until all shots are completed. They are so small and we wouldn't want to risk any chances.
