I'm going to call a vet tomorrow I suppose.
I'm 16, the dog is my responsibility, and I don't know everything about them.
It is good that you re taking responsibility for him but your folks need to take the responsibility for the vet trip. Whenever we get a new pet, it is important to take them to the vet within the first few days to make sure they don't have any diseases or conditions that need treating. This needs to be done on all pups, regardless of how they are acting. Consider it like a well baby check up. Since they can't talk, all medical conditions are not readily apparent and make a vet check up more important. They also need to have the proper vaccines. Since you don't know anything about his history and said he was abandoned, I am guessing you have no history of his shots either. So, for the sake of the pup, and the legal requirements too, you need to have the vaccines started.

I haven't been on all day today, but since it was Sunday, you probably did not get to the vet. So, just ask your folks to make an appointment when they open tomorrow. Let them know how important it is to the safety of your pup.

I would not worry too much about all that licking. It is probably just from the haircut and the grooming products they used on him that he is probably not used to. It could even be that they did not rinse him well enough. I would probably try giving him a thorough rinsing with luke warm water. See if that helps. Good luck!
