Unless you are using it for air travel or for keeping him confined in the car, I wouldn't recommend putting him in a carrier. He'd just be too heavy to carry around. The tinies or smaller yorkies can be put in a designer carrier and carried around with you.
I can't imaging carrying my Tink around in a bag while I was shopping. She weighs 9 lbs. and my shoulder would be screaming.
I have a Sherpa "Delta" for Tink when we fly. Otherwise, she goes on leash and harness or stays home. Gere's a link to what I have (I didn't pay that much though. (I'm a comparison shopper!)
