I am so very sorry this has happened to you, and so sorry for your sister and poor little Jill. My heart goes out to you all.

My daughter kept my yorkie last week while we were out of state, and I was a nervous wreck that he would drown in her pool. I know it only takes a minute for it to happen. Every time we go to my daughter's house, my dog either jumps in or falls into the pool. This was the first time I had ever left my dog with anyone, and I was very concerned about the pool, but I had nobody else I trusted to keep him and we couldn't take him with us. A few years ago my sister's neighbor's yorkie drown in my sister's pool, and I'll never forget how traumatic it was for all involved.

Again, my heart breaks for all of you. And FWIW, I would not want to know my dog died while I was on my vacation. I would rather not find out the bad news until we got home.
