Five months is a bit young for her to have come in season, though the warm weather can bring on seasons a bit earlier.
Her vulva won't necessarily be swollen, not in the early part. It tends to swell in the second half when they become fertile & ready to accept a dog.
Are you sure the brown spots are actually coming from her vulva? If her bowels are a bit loose it could be a residue from that rubbing off from her coat. Some of mine tend to get a bit loose if the weather is too warm for them & one has IBS.
