My husband and I have been picking them off with tweezers. She's only had her 1st shot, and the people we bought her from told us that we couldnt put a flea and tick collar on her because it counteracts with the shot. They told us we had to wait until she's had all 3 shots until we could put one on. I'm not sure exactly how to go about this problem now. Does anyone know what's safe to put on a puppy this young or if what they told me is even true? I need to do something for her and there are way too many ticks to pick off just with tweezers. Please help!!
Poor little mite. A couple of tips we were given when we were in Spain and ticks were everywhere were:-
If taking ticks off with tweezers make sure you get them by the head otherwise you squeeze the infected blood back into your dog!
Cover the tick with vaseline (petroleum jelly) especially the back of the tick. When they are feeding on your dog they breather through their rear ends so covering that end in vaseline stops them breathing and they drop off or are easier to remove.

Hope you solve you problem soon
