I have a Yorkie/Maltese and I love her. I think mutts make the best pets. The cross in my oppinion makes for a calmer dog. I do not think they have any more health issues then a full breed and in a lot of instances less health issues. I think you would be fine. With that said; I also have to state that I do not condone purposely breeding for these so called designer dogs. In my oppinion there are too many "Mutts" in shelters and rescues that need homes. I don't like the word mutt I prefer mixed pup but the truth of the matter is that years back before all the greed came into play that is all these dogs were, now they give them a fancy name and charge a fortune. Sorry to get off course. I think your friend's mix would make a wonderful pet if you are looking for another. Elaine
