Thats exactly what they did. As well as antibiotics and special food to calm his GI tract. It was very scarry. Im glad I never wait "to see how they do" when my 3 r sick, it's right to the vet and he can decide if its bad or not. Id much rather b safe than sorry. |
Your quick thinking probably saved his life. When dogs have HGE, the red blood count (packed volume) goes way up. They can go into shock, then a coma and die with hours.
They don't know exactly what caused it, but sometimes bacteria does so they always give an antibiotic as a precaution.
