My Blk Lab, Lucky, got heartworms years ago when we lived in Council Bluffs, IA. He was already on seizure medication but our vet, bless his heart, called the University of NE for information on how to treat him. He had to have 2 treatments. We almost lost him. It was SO hard on him but luckily he was young, in terrific health, and it was caught early on. He did live to a ripe old age of over 12 yrs. I really don't remember the cost - I was just so worried about Lucky making it through the treatment.
