[QUOTE=Nancy1999;2689329]This is so sad, heartworm is so easy to prevent, and so painful and costly to treat. I get so angry every time I read about someone saying that heartworm medication isn't needed and doctors and drug companies are just trying to rip you off. People recommend "holistic" medications that seem more like "snake oil" treatment, and yet for some reason people want to believe them. Please treat your dogs with a heartworm preventative, and get testing once a year. /QUOTE]

Questions about heartworm medicine. When I lived in NJ I always had my dog on heartworm medicine (due to high tick population) but in So. Cal. my vet said he didn't think it was necessary. Said he did not have his dogs on it. Do you feel it is a precaution that all dogs be on it?
